Black History and Culture in the Music City!

Xperience Black Travel Blog- #1

In my first Xperience Black Travel blog, I wanted to stick close to home. Right in my backyard is one of the best museum experiences I have ever had! I am an admitted museum nerd. I love a good museum!!! When the National Museum of African American Music (nmaam.org) opened in 2021, I couldn’t wait to visit!!!! I was able to visit within the first few months and have been back another 5 or 6 times. I never miss an opportunity to visit! The National Museum of African American Music is the only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating many music genres created, influenced, and inspired by African Americans. A visit to this museum is an immersive experience! You can sing with Bobby Jones and his choir, dance through the decades, have a rap battle and create a blues song! The museum provides a wrist-band so that you can have a digital memento of your visit. The National Museum of African American Music is located in the heart of downtown Nashville. It is across the street from the Ryman Auditorium “The Mother Church of Country Music” and is part of the 5th & Broad entertainment complex. Put this on the top of your list during your visit to the Music City!!!
